2 singles of my upcoming Bigband album with the Subway Jazz Orchestra have already been released on all streaming platforms. The compositional process as well as the whole production of the music has been an intense journey that took two years. I’m very happy with the outcome and hope the listeners can find beauty and inspiring moments in the manifold details of this piece. Album release will be June 16th.
University of Arts Mannheim | Antrittskonzert
Next monday I’ll play in Mannheim with Lars Duppler in order to celebrate my new job at the University of Arts. I started in October 2020 already, but now finally it was possible to organize a concert without any restrictions and compromises. Really looking forward to this one.

On March 22nd there will be a very special concert at Club Subway in Cologne. I’m going to present my new 60 minute suite for Jazz Orchestra - YOU ARE THE UNIVERSE. The official album release will be in May this year, but there might already be some CDs available at the concert next week ;)
Upcoming Duo Tour
Lars Duppler and I will be on tour in Germany and Iceland during the next days. We’ll also be recording our next album with guest artist Hilmar Jensson on guitar. Stay tuned.

New year - new input... Some time ago I had the idea to make some things I work on daily in my practice room available to others as well. I have therefore started to create "micro-studies" on special topics, which aim to shed light on different musical aspects and show inspiring ways to deal with the material on your own. SJO\CGN Video - live at Jazzschmiede Düsseldorf
Earlier this year we had the pleasure of performing at the Jazzschmiede again with the Subway Jazz Orchestra. My new suite for jazz orchestra - YOU ARE THE UNIVERSE - was performed here for the first time (the corresponding album is in the works :-).
We also played my piece FLY, which can be found on our current album "Still Screaming" (float music 2020). Here is a little video of it. Many thanks to Lars Wallat and the Jazzschmiede!
Standards Week
This week I’m playing every night at the great LOFT in Cologne with the Shannon Barnett Quartet. Pablo Held put together three groups for a “Standard Week”. It’s going to be a great experience hearing everybody five nights in a row, maneuvering through beautiful American Songbook pieces.
SJO\CGN concerts
The Subway Jazz Orchestra will play at Club Subway two more times this year. On October 5 we have the outstanding Joris Roelofs as a guest. I was happy to arrange two of his compositions for the orchestra and I am looking forward to being in front of the band again. Then in November we have the great composer Ursula Reicher as a guest. Come by and enjoy the orchestral fireworks. Going to be fantastic…
Concert impressions | Alte Feuerwache Mannheim 2021

This concert happened already some time ago. It was a beautiful and spontanous get together by all new professors at the University of Performing Arts in Mannheim. We had a great time on stage at “Alte Feuerwache”, where we could finally connect musically. During everyday teaching, this usually takes too much of a back seat. And Patricia Truchsess has captured the good mood in wonderful pictures.
