Our new Quartet CD has been released last week! It’s called NIAQUE - Awake and distributed through our new label FLOAT Music. Besides Philipp on guitar and me on tenor & soprano saxophones it features David Helm on bass and Fabian Arends on drums.

A lot of great music is being released these days. Despite the difficult financial circumstances for Jazz releases many artists keep creating great stuff and put all their energy into making beautiful records. I was lucky to be part of two very special projects that now have been released. On the one hand this is Sebastian Boehlen who has written very challenging and exciting music for quintet. On the other hand Dierk Peters put together a six piece band where I had the pleasure to play only clarinets. Please feel free to check the music out and buy a CD if you like it!

The Subway Jazz Orchestra will release its third album next month. It's called RICHBECK and contains a new Suite for Jazz Orchestra by Tobias Wember. Please check out the SJO Website for more info. The CD is exclusively available through FLOAT Music.

A few days ago the SUBWAY JAZZ ORCHESTRA released its debut album PRIMAL SCREAM on FLOAT MUSIC. It features 8 compositions by the 4 orchestra arrangers Johannes Ludwig, Jens Böckamp, Tobias Wember and myself. Everybody involved put a lot of effort in the working process and we are very pleased how it all came out. Thanks to the beautiful acoustics of the Kammermusiksaal at Deutschlandfunk, the masterful work of sound engineer Christian Heck and the great orchestra performance the CD is really audiolicious. This week my new quartet CD STEFAN KARL SCHMID/ PHILIPP BRÄMSWIG - ANIMA is going to be released on META records. We produced this record at the Deutschlandfunk Studios in Cologne with a fantastic bunch of people.
